Fence work is not one-size-fits-all. A residential wood privacy fence and a tall commercial chain-link security system use different materials, tools, access plans and repair methods. Field example 1: residential wood privacy-fence installation
The residential images show an active wood-fence installation around an existing property with trees, uneven ground, neighboring structures and limited work space. The crew is assembling the structural frame, setting the picket line and developing a gate opening. These are progress photographs, not final-completion photographs.

Posts, rails and gate framing establish the fence structure
A wood privacy fence depends on more than the visible pickets. Posts carry wind and gate loads, horizontal rails support the fence boards, and the gate frame must remain square enough to operate without dragging or sagging. The first photo shows the crew working around a framed opening while the surrounding fence line is still being assembled.
Post spacing, embedment, concrete footings and gate reinforcement should be selected for the fence height, soil, exposure and expected use. Coastal and Gulf-area wind conditions make structural details especially important. Existing utilities should be located before digging, and property boundaries should be confirmed when there is any uncertainty.

Picket alignment and ground conditions affect the finished appearance
The second and third residential photos show pressure-treated wood pickets being installed along an active fence line. Picket spacing, top-line consistency and the relationship between the fence and changing grade all affect how the finished fence looks. On sloped or uneven properties, the contractor and owner should decide whether the fence follows the grade, steps down in sections or uses another approved layout.
Vegetation, roots, old fence material and limited access can also affect labor and equipment choices. The written scope should identify removal requirements, haul-off, fence height, board style, gate count, hardware, staining or sealing and any repairs to adjacent structures.

Field example 2: commercial chain-link fence and gate repair
The commercial images document a separate repair operation on a tall chain-link security fence. The crew is working on metal framework and gate-related components using field welding. This type of work may be required when posts, rails, braces, hinges or gate frames become bent, detached, misaligned or damaged by weather, vehicles, equipment or repeated use.

Field welding requires controlled repair planning
A welded repair must address the damaged connection without creating new problems in surrounding galvanized components, fabric, privacy screening or operating hardware. The photos show the work area being handled with welding face protection and controlled access around the repair point.
Before repair, the contractor should determine whether the existing component can be safely restored or should be replaced. Gate alignment, hinge condition, latch operation, post stability and the condition of the surrounding chain-link fabric should be reviewed together. Correcting only one visible break may not solve a larger alignment or support problem.

Commercial fence inspections should cover the full run
Security fencing is a system. A repair near one gate or brace should be evaluated in relation to the entire fence line, especially on commercial, industrial, school, municipal and HOA properties. The inspection can include end and corner posts, top rails, tension wire, fabric attachment, privacy slats, gates, hinges, latches, welds, corrosion and areas affected by soil movement or impact.
Clear documentation is useful for property managers and facility owners because it separates urgent safety or security repairs from longer-term maintenance. Photos, measurements and a written scope also make subcontractor bidding and owner approval more efficient.

Choosing between wood, chain-link and ornamental fencing
Wood privacy fencing is commonly selected for residential screening, yard separation and appearance. Chain-link fencing is often chosen for durability, visibility, larger commercial runs and controlled access. Privacy slats can reduce visibility through a chain-link fence, while ornamental metal or aluminum fencing can provide a more architectural appearance where full privacy is not required.
Material selection should consider the property’s purpose, required height, security level, exposure, maintenance expectations, gate size, budget and applicable HOA or municipal requirements. Commercial and school sites may also require controlled access, protective bollards, vehicle gates or coordination with existing security systems.
